Panel Discussion: When ‘Space’ becomes Place – What is the Future of Looking Back?
Fri 10 May – Starts 2pm, Seminar Room at Quay Arts, Isle of Wight
I am chairing this discussion which promises to be really interesting. Organised by artist Tom Hall we will explore the way in which artists respond to heritage sites.
How can the arts change the way we use and understand historic remains?
The National Trust High Down rocket test site is used as a live example to open up a dialogue about future roles the arts might have in public interpretations of heritage sites.
Participants include Professor Oren Lieberman, Dean of the Faculty of Art & Design, AUB, who has a particular interest in the relationship between architecture and fine art, Ron Cowdrey of Solent University, Tom Freshwater; Contemporary Arts Programme Manager of the National Trust and the participating artists Tom Hall, Roy Brown and Julia Flatman from ‘Chasing Sputnik’ exhibition opening in September at Quay Arts.
Spaces are limited for this discussion, so please book by calling Quay Arts Box Office: 01983 822490
